June has had a lot of oldies being rediscovered with some new tools thrown in and an all new lip range to go with a slightly darker eye than usual. So what have I been loving?
Bourjois Happy Light Foundation in 50; it’s a nice medium coverage foundation that’s light on the skin and dewy without breaking the bank.
Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Palette I love this palette, the cream bronzer is beautiful as are the highlighters – the blush is so/so, I prefer the peachy one more but a dab of the berry mixed in punches up the complexion that extra little bit. Oh and 100% of the profits go to the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund which is a cause I care deeply (and personally) about.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Light + Shisedo Natural Finish Cream Concealer in 02 these two just rock, work on both the dreaded exam time under eyes and the usual mess of blemishes that inhabit my face.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Perfect Topping this was limited edition a while back, but was brought back recently-ish. It’s just a great highlighter (not the greatest!) it’s not subtle or too over the top it’s kind of in the middle. It gives off a gentle creamy-golden glow with some cool tones from those lavender/green/pink pigments swirled in that creamy golden base. It works and it’s been in my stash for so long I need to start working more with it.
Chanel Rouge Contraste Powder Blush in Rose Petale ahh Chanel! I love the scent of this more than anything, it’s a bit of a pink-red-rose shade (and while I love my peach-tones) it just does the job in the winter, but it hasn’t been getting the love since March so I thought I’d use it more. I love it ( for the price, I better!) and it’s a fun shade that works with pretty much everything and a light hand.
Clinique Blended Loose Powder (minus the brush) in 002, I was looking for a powder to use instead of my beloved Chanel *almost out, sob* since that thing is like breaking the bank to buy and with the summer I’m going to be slathering my face in powder in an effort to keep everything in place. Works like a charm, doesn’t look powdery or cakey and it’s super sheer. If you’re braving the world bare faced but are afraid of the shiney sweaty slick that happens when you live in 30+ Celsius weather this is for you.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette all the neutral shadows a girl can want and the best matte black in existence. I’ve been rocking a smokey eye with some liner recently and this has been my go to (I still love you Naked 3!)
Blinc Superthin Liner & Stila Smudge Stick Eyeliner Pen in Stingray black liner on the top lash line with a wing and on the tightline for extra oomph. These two? Awesome.
Bourjois 24hr Cream Shadow in Petale de Glace – It’s a nice shimmery base that also works as a stand alone with a little matte brown thrown in the crease for the definition I need.
Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara in Blackest Black; I kinda love it kinda hate it – maybe this tubes just a little dry by now? I’m trying to finish it off so I can start a new tube of Clinque really. It’s my favourtiest ever when it’s fresh.
MAC eyeshadows in Espresso and Omega The brow gods called, they want they shadows back. These two on an angled brush are like eyebrow perfection for those more natural days, Lighter shade in the front, darker in the back a quick brush through and you’re off. It won’t make you look like Cara but it’s something
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong this is some full on hot pink lipstick. It’s a bit much for me with the whole smokey eye + winged liner so I dab some on as a stain. It looks like I’ve been eating popsicles all day which is a great thing in the summer.
MAC Cremesheen in PeachBlossom & Maybelline Colour Sensational Gloss in Fabulous Pink – hi nudey pink perfection! The gloss amps it up when I feel like my lips are a little lackluster but, ugh that lipstick!
Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfecter in 01 it’s the handbag staple of the beauty world. I’m there too. Need a nice lip hugging perky wash of colour? it’s here for you. Don’t worry.
Loads of brushes for all the smokey eyes, MAC 217, 226, the face brushes 187 and the blush brush. Some real techniques as usual. Honourable mentions to the beauty blender and the Louise Young Super Foundation brush which are just awesome.
Salt spray, all the way. Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray is one of the best, I’ve hoarded it for a while so I’m still trying to use up the 3 bottles I binge bought. Oops.
