Better late than never!
I’m summing up 2014 with my favourite products of the year, and trust me they are all good ones. I may or may not have a few back ups just in case something runs out…
I’ll start off with skincare, and this year has certainly been a whirlwind in this department. I discovered the wonder that is the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel (don’t let the gel word fool you, previously mentioned here) a simple heavnly smelling balm cleanser that melts off all your makeup and leaves skin feeling tip top. I’ve been addicted to the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Moisture Mask (if you haven’t noticed here and here) I’m on my second tube and going strong. This mask a. smells like a tropical vacation b. is light and not sticky c. lets me wake up to a face that feels like I’ve downed 3 litres of water. The NUXE Reve de Miel has been one of those products everyone spoke of but I had never picked up, but am so so glad I did. Instant lip therapy in a tub, this isn’t a daytime lip balm so slather it on before bed and wake up with non-flaky non-chapped lips. Feeling like those puckers are going to fall off your face? Not anymore.
As expected, there’s a great deal of makeup here. I’ll keep it short – The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (in 4.0) is all that you’ve heard about it and much much more. Coverage with a luminous but not sheeny finish it’s a wonderful one for events or selfie sessions. If you get one foundation this year – make it this one, you won’t regret it (previously mentioned here). I love a good concealer, what can I do? The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Vanilla & Custard) have been working overtime with me. Covering anything from dark circles, thanks school, to blemishes these are workhorses that give you the coverage you want without the “that-isn’t-skin” look. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders were all the rage last year, and while I adore Dim Light my first foray into the world of magical powders, Diffused Light is my perfect powder. The yellow tone calms down redness while the formula gives that gorgeous finish that only Photoshop or a good Instagram filter can give (also mentioned here). The Charlotte Tilbury Powder and Sculpt Brush was purchased early in the year and joined by the Filmstar Bronze & Glow duo much later; but I cannot imagine life without them. The brush is amazing for contouring, highlighting or sweeping things wherever they are needed. While the duo is all you’d ever need to get your bronze goddess vibes on, hop over to a CT counter and never look back. To finish a look off you need mascara and L’oreal’s Miss Manga has been a fave ever since I first used it – it’s so good my mother has been converted! Along with the Kat von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper which is my OTL (one true liner) after trying out numerous products this is the one, it’s just unbeatable. For lips the Maybelline Color Elixir gloss/lipstick/whatever are easy to wear, fade nicely aren’t sticky and bring the gloss to the yard.
I’ve been trailing so many hair products, and might have met a new HG, but this year the one that really stood out was the Living Proof Prime Style Extender (previous rave here). It really does extend your hairstyle, and that’s needed if you don’t like frying it on those GHD’s even more than you already do. I was given Dolce & Gabbana’s Dolce as a gift from my guy since he noticed me eyeing it up. This lightly floral scent pairs beautifully with so many other scents I have (mentioned here) and the bottle is super pretty on my vanity too, which never hurts. Lastly my eternal favourite, Diptyque’s Feu de Bois will always be my candle. The smoky, woody scent is unbeatable and instantly reminds me of home.
What did you love this year? Anything you’re going to be checking out in 2015?
