Valentine’s Day: Casual Date Makeup

So, I’m heading off to a casual lunch date with my boyfriend, we don’t like waiting in line or huge crowds so going out on the evening of Valentine’s Day was not an option. Also, Friday family dinners *ehm, shabbat* are a thing so, a dinner date was not in the books. Because I still want to look pretty – but too much make up a. scares the boys b. looks weird in the daylight I went for an easy, light makeup that’s still pretty.

For the base I wanted something that’s not too dewy, and offers a little more coverage than the usual BB cream, so out came Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet (I have B20, which is my summer shade, so I mix it with whichever light foundation I have on hand). The foundation has a beautiful velvet finish, with medium coverage, and in general it just makes my skin look awesome. To bring in some colour to the rest of my face I dabbed on some of the Josie Maran Coconut Cheek Gelee in Poppy Paradise onto the cheeks and the lips for a slight stain. I love this formula because it’s so light and it isn’t tacky at all unlike most cream blushers. Then I went in with the Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow for a little cheekbone definition and highlight, more on this gorgeous duo in a bit.
For eyes, I swept whatever was left on the brush onto the lids. Then I went in with the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Brown Perfection (13) along the lash line with a bit of a flick to elongate the eyes, and smudged it a bit for a smokey-easy “I slept in this” effect. Curled those lashes, and a few coats of  L’oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions in Waterproof – as we’re going to a place by the beach and there’s going to be wind, which means watery eyes, which means I cannot look like a racoon – so waterproof it is.
For brows a little bit of hold and definition, but nothing too much, with Benefit’s GimmeBrow that holds hair in place and gives a bit of oomph curtesy of some fibres in the gel. For lips a pinky nude from MAC’s Patisserie on top of the slight stain from the cheek gelee for a fresh easy lip – the stain is there for a little something after the meal before I reapply the lipstick, and the lipstick is there for pretty-ness reasons.

Did you do anything for Valentines Day? Did you go for the blood red lip or the easy nude?

My partner and I stayed in for Valentine’s Day and had a fondue night which was so fun for a change of pace! I ended up just wearing easy makeup and lipgloss, but it was such a special night regardless <3
