Like all good girls I did a little spring clean, and found out that I’ve simply got too many primers lying about opened and unfinished. So, what’s a make-up junkie to do? Announce a “Project Finish” adventure!
So what is “Project Finish” you ask, it’s my attempt to clear out all those deluxe-sample sizes, travel sizes and general multiples of products I’ve got on hand – and then write up my thoughts on them. For the sake of knowledge. So what have I got to use up? A wide range of primers really, I’m tackling these first (instead of my 8+ foundations) since these are easy to use up, don’t really depend on colour matching me or require a certain “Look”. Most of these are either almost gone, or partially used up, but since I’ve got so many products I’d really like to clear them out – and use them up. Hopefully these’ll pop up in an empties sometimes soon.
The deluxe sample sizes are all little goodies from Sephora that I’ve received with purchases or codes or as point perks. So far my favourite of the bunch is the Cover FX Calming Primer as it’s really moisturising and helps with the redness that predominates my cheeks. The NARS Radiance Enhancing Pro Primer SPF 15 is a nice primer that gives a very subtle boost of radiance to the skin but doesn’t really cut it for me since I like my glow-glowey and not just a hint of it. Benefit’s Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer is also nice, and the stick applicator makes for an easy swipe and your off effect but I haven’t detected any 15 hour wear when with it, if anything it doesn’t help my dry-dehydrated skin but rather just slicks on a layer of product that fills in the skin and leaves a smooth layer that’s nice but doesn’t really last on me.
Smashbox’s Photo Finish More Than Primer in Blemish Control was bought during a bout of terrible acne, with the home that it’ll help keep thing under control during the day (you know those nasties can’t wait to pop up around 16:00 when you’re finishing up stuff.) and is/was nice, I find that if I use a smidgen too much it leads to my foundation crumbling up with it into little bits which results in needing to clean up and re-apply. It’s a finicky product I guess, or maybe it’s my application – there’s quite a bit left in there so I’m going to test it out in other ways and pray I figure it out. Benefit’s Professional is one of those cult products that get raved about like it’s god gift to man (or women, with pores) but I simply don’t get on with it. I got the little tube in the Sephora isle of doom near the check out on a whim, but on me it’s a bit mehhh anyone care to shed some light on how this is magic?
Then there’s the Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer, I’d meant to get the illuminating one but somehow ended up with this, and all I can say is that it’s a nice primer nothing to write home about – but I’ve got nothing good to day about it either. It’s just a primer didn’t lead to any weird reactions, didn’t clog the pores but also didn’t improve the look or wear of my foundation.
Lastly there’s a solid rave about, love it to death, OMG were was this all my life product. The Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance, this is what bronzing-glow boosting primer should be all about. It makes my skin look healthy while giving a nice bronzed glow that helps diffuse any redness or blemishes. Along with those it adheres foundation to the face, and improves the wear time. It doesn’t give you a glittery-disco ball look but a gentle healthy glow that no girl can resist. There’s a bit left in the tube, but I’ll be saving this for last just because it’s that good.
Have you had a spring time clear out? Any products you’re keen on finishing up?
