3 Ways: Spring to Summer Swap

Spring to Summer SwapsAhhhhh summer. Sweat, heat and sunny sunny days are almost upon us.
It’s time to abandon the last vestiges of winter beauty that we’ve been clinging too and face the fact that it’s time to make some major switches to the routine. Here are three things to switch out in your beauty stash – until the weather cools down again.1. Foundation it’s time to reassess your shade, in the winter you can be about a shade lighter than in the summer. If you’re keen on the fake tan, sunbathing or just have been taking some weekend walks in the sunshine then I highly recommend you pull out those darker foundations. It’s also a good idea to pull out a lighter formula (or make that purchase you’ve been eyeing…) to give skin some breathing room.
Some recommendations: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua SPF 15, Bourjois CC Creme, Dior Skin Nude BB Creme.

2. Blush put down the matte powders and start reaching for the light creams and fresh gels. It’s summer, time to go lighter and embrace that glow *sweaty face* you’re bound to sport the moment you step outside. Powders may melt away, but a stain lasts a while longer.  Creamy formula ware both light and dewy, with the added natural flush effect. Most important? No brush needed.
Some recommendations: Josie Maran Cheek GeleeBourjois Little Round Pot Cream Blush, Stila Convertible Colour.

3. Lips it’s time to retire the deep, matte reds and vampy purples and bring out some glossy, light and moisturising pinks. I’ve already expressed my opinions about a pop of pink in the warmer months, and how much I like a gloss in the summer time here. So yes, get some shiney, glossy lipstick or balm or gloss out the lighter the better. As long as it isn’t sticky you’ll be just fine.
Some recommendations: Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfecter, Dior Lip Glow, Maybelline Colour Sensational Gloss.

  • I always get excited when the seasons change and I get to pull out my new lipstick shades. For fall/winter I always go with darker shades but when spring comes it’s all about the pinky peachy lips.

I couldn’t agree more! Winter is the time to rock a vampy lip (or a nude, nude is all seasons appropriate!) while spring/summer is the time to bring some fun pink toned lips.

Thanks so much for the comment!

  • I love the seasons changing and definitely agree that makeup should change with it, love your tips!

Happy you enjoyed! I think it’s important to shake things up every once in a while, and seasonal changes are just life alarm for that.

  • The NARS sticks look so great! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Those Nars lipsticks are the BOMB so many good shades – there’s one for every season 😛

Thanks for checking out my blog!

  • While I’m definitely more of a winter person, I love all the light textures and bright colours associated with spring. I’ve always wanted to try the Josie Maran stain, but have never heard much about it. I think it may need to be added to my cart for a future order!

The Josie Maran cheek Gelee is a great product! I also really like the Infinity Cheek & Lip stains.

Thanks for stopping b and leaving a comment XO

  • love cream blushers for the summer, they are so easy to wear. My current favourite has to be the orange cream blush from Stila such a pretty colour on the skin.

I’m definitely embracing the summer, my BB creams are out, and I am back to loving my cream shadows & blusher…. I love the Maybelline ones 🙂

    • Dar

The Maybelline cream shadows are so good! I’ve had my eye on the pomegranate one and it seems perfect for summer.

  • Oooh all these products look lovely and it’s nice to see make-up products that give your skin a healthy glow! I love everything that you’ve featured and I always tend to go for lighter products like BB creams, pink/coral shades and lip glosses as they all look great with a tan too!

    Bring on summer!! 🙂
