Reactive Lip Balms: Clarins vs. Dior

Dior Lip Glow vs. Clarins My Pink 03My love for lip balms knows no bounds. What’s better than a good lip balm? A PH reactive lip balm! All the comfy moisturising of a balm with a hint of colour that’s 100% you. I’ve loved the Dior Lip Glow for a good while now since I picked it up last June but the Clarins may just take over it’s longstanding position and my go to.
The differences aren’t really noticeable on the lips – I’ve attempted to take pictures but, you really cannot tell the difference via the camera lens. I’d say the Clarins offering is a bit lighter feeling on the lips and has a glossier finish. Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm 03 My PinkThere’s a big difference in the design – the Clarins is a lot slimmer and sleeker than the Dior. As much as I like the Dior packaging it’s a bit bulky, and the cap annoys me. Then there’s the scent the Dior Lip Glow has this minty-eucalyptus scent that makes me expect some sort of lip plumping action. The Clarins has this sweet cookie-vanilla scent that’s very gentle, not synthetic or sickening in the least but still present.Dior Lip GlowThe colour I get from the Lip Glow is a pretty sheer  pink that’s a little warm leaning, with a balmy finish. It’s not sticky like a gloss, but does have some grip to the lips. I feel like it stays on for longer than the Clarins, and so it’s the  more nourishing option of the two. With the Clarins there’s a lot more sheen, a more glossy finish this means it sticks around for less time and is less nourishing but it’s lighter and in a way more appropriate for the summer in my case. The colour is also slightly cooler toned which means slightly whiter teeth!

All in all these are pretty similar, but the Clarins does run cheaper than the Dior at 23.00$/18.00£/17.00€ compared to the Dior at 33.00$/23.00£/33.00€ so if you’re looking for a luxe reactive lip balm I’d go for the Clarins and use those extra pennies for something else…

      So happy you liked them!

  • I’ve always wanted to try that Dior one, but haven’t got around to buying it yet. I have two of the Clarins lip balms, which I like, but don’t love. I’m quite partial to the Fresh Sugar lip balms the best.

The Fresh Sugar are a bit better than the Clarins I’ll agree on that. I didn’t like any of the regular “coloured” balms that they had but the ‘My Pink’ was exactly what I wanted.

  • I love the Clarins Instant lip perfectors so I really want to try the balms. I never picked up that Dior balm hence the price tag, I was tempted during the VIB sale but I didn’t get it :))

I adore the Instant Lip Perfectors but this are a bit less glossy-glimmery and more lip balm like. A good boost of moisture.

  • Ooh the Clarins one sounds really nice! I didn’t know it was the same concept as the Dior Balm. I love the Dior one, might check out the Clarins one now! I love the smell of the Instant Light Lip Perfectors, it sounds like this is the same scent which means I reeally want to try it!! 😀 xx

It smells so good! It’s certainly a bit less pricey and that softens the blow (a little) – check this one out for sure.
