I’m a texture fiend. There I said it!
My hair is fine, and despite the short cut and my own natural curl it lacks that little bit of extra… oomph. While my love for the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray and it’s tousled effect is pretty much as well known as the fact the earth has a moon, sometimes I want something a little different (and not as bank breaking) on such occasions I turn to the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray. It’s the beach in a spray bottle, just without the sun, sand or jellyfish stings. Some would find this drying, and it’s not the most hydrating out there, but a bit of crunch and grit is something I look for in my hair. Straight out of the shower and blow dried its smooth, with some static and flyaways, and slippery. I add in some curls or waves with my GHD styler, but even that can fall a bit flat. This magical mix of water, salt and unicorn dust (not really, it’s water and some plant extracts) gives my hair that second or third day grit that it misses when freshly washed.
Before my hair is okay – don’t get me wrong I could leave the house like that no problem. But it’s lacking that carefree tousled feel that I aim for.
After a few spritzes and messing around a little there’s a more “cool” result, a bit of separation and definition to each wave or curl. It’s also quite a bit less flat on the top, which will make my head seem less like a triangle. It’s also great in my natural hair texture – a relaxed curl/wave hybrid, as it really bring out the natural texture and helps the curls hold.
I love this spray for a quick hair pick me up, after all it’d be great to spend a day at the beach but I’d rather get the look from my air-conditioned room.
I buy mine from Sephora when in the states or from Lookfantastic.com that ships internationally for free.
