an Ode to: Cle de Peau Concealer

Cle De Peau Ivory ConcealerI’m a bit of a concealer lover, well more like I’m overall a bit partial to base products foundation anyone? So it’s no surprise that when the opportunity to get my hands on what is touted as the “greatest concealer of all time” along with “it’s soooo expensive but totally worth it” that I’d jump on it. I jumped and in my hands landed the one, the only, Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer. So what are all those people talking about? Let me tell you. It’s a stick concealer, and yes the shade selection is limited. No it won’t cover your genetic dark circles unless you colour correct the first. It is worth it if you can find a good shade match. It’ll melt into you say Clé de Peau, you’ll need just a dab to get the job done and it’ll likely last you a century. Should you run out and buy it right now because “OMG life isn’t complete without it”? No. A 70$ concealer is steep, there’s pretty great concealers out there for much much less even at the drugstore. If you’re in the mood for a splurge and love a great concealer? Go for it.

Cle De Peau Ivory Concealer SwatchYou can tell from the swatches that it’s a bit drier than other liquid or cream concealers. The pigment density is high, this swatch was done with just a dab with the side of the stick onto my arm. In terms of shades I’d say it’s pretty much closest to the Clarins Instant Concealer in 01 maybe a smidge darker or warmer.

The greatest thing about this concealer to me is that it’s in a stick and that when layered over existing makeup it doesn’t cake up. These make it the perfect concealer of on the go, placed in a handbag for a mid day touchup or when traveling and trying to reduce the amount of stuff being carried.

Have you got a recommendation for a great stick foundation or concealer? Let me know!

  • This sounds amazing, it’s just the price that puts me off!
