A while back YSL launched these “Tint In Oil” things, I think it was last January or so. The concept of an oil on your lips sounded a bit too messy for me so I skipped it. Then Into The Gloss came out with a post about these and my curiosity was piqued. The blog post the triggered it is this one where the ITG staff confessed to their fascination with it. Apparently, this “oil” isn’t oily at all they said with a glossy stain that leaves lips a little bit plumped all along with that signature YSL scent and flavour. The comments section really sealed it for me, I needed to try one of these.
Unfortunately for me, they were unobtainable for a bit. They’d yet to launch in Israel for some reason, and I wasn’t sure ordering online would suit me because I needed to feel them and swatch them and make my decision between the 8 almost identical shades. Call me crazy but I needed to have a feel of these.
In Prague I watched but couldn’t decide, and then Byredo candles happened and my budget was gone faster than you can say Bibliotheque.
Then I found out that they’d launched in Israel, the excitement was real. Off to my nearest counter to swatch I went, cashed in some points at the store and got it for a decent price too. I went for ‘Oh My Gold 02’ it’s a light sheer pink base with some gold shimmer running thru it, very nice on it’s own for a natural plumped up lip or on top of other products for a bit of slick. The glitters don’t scratch the lips like they can do sometimes, and while some people complain of tackiness I don’t get it at all. This lasts on me about 2 hours on the shine and around 4-6 for the stain it leaves behind. It’s not gloopy or thick, and it just coats the lips in a glossy light layer that’s hydrating and comfortable. Also, the packaging is just too good.
If you like the look of gloss, but not the feel of gloss then this is the one to try out.
