Chanel Mademoiselle

Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle

Okay, so I said I wasn’t going to get more nude-pink-brown lipsticks. I lied. Sorta. I caved when faced with the beauty that is a Chanel lipstick, and obviously went straight for the Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle ’cause it’s a classic. Sometimes you encounter a shade that makes you regret not owning it earlier, Mademoiselle it that kind of shade. Have I found my Holy Grail lipstick? Maybeeeee. In a nutshell the Rouge Coco lipstick range from Chanel, re-formulated and launched in early 2015, had a lot of shades. If you’d like to see the entire range, or most of it there are some great swatch posts online from  The Beauty Lookbook and Lily Pebbles. I was inspired to check out the range by Samantha Maria who wore Mademoiselle in a video, I popped by a counter and it was love. The wishlist is long for this range, next on my purchase list are Suzzanne and Arthur or maybe Gabrielle.

The lipsticks themselves are nice and opaque, with a sheen having moisture giving formula. If you’re a strictly matte loving ‘gal this may not be the one for you. If you like a long lasting, no reapplying, no fuss ever lipstick – skip it too. However if you, like me, like a bit of a shine to your lipsticks and love the balmy texture of a lustre from mac but hate the sheer colour and sometimes scratchy glitters…DING DING DING we have a winner. While it won’t survive a burger eating session, of a sandwich frankly, it’ll leave you lips looking nice and plump upon application. You won’t feel like your lips are about to fall off ever, and reapplying from the super slick black double C embossed tube will make you feel fabulous.

As for Chanel’s Mademoiselle or 434 – it’s that perfect nude-pink-brown shade. In the tube it looks boring if not a bit old, but on the lips? It transforms into something magical. Magical I say because, unlike most of my nude-pink-brown shades it just works with whatever I’ve got on, maybe it’s the formula or the colour or the little micro-shimmers in there. Regardless it does it’s job at looking amazing and bringing a little bit of life to my face.

It’s a lipstick I’ve been unable to put down in the past month and frankly? It doesn’t get enough love online. Have you tried this shade or others from the range?

I haven’t tried this shade, but it looks beautiful. I dont think you can ever have enough nude shades.

  • It looks like an absolutely beautiful shade! I don’t think there’s any harm in getting *another* lipstick in a shade you already have a ton of – it just means you really like the color and will definitely wear it!

  • This looks so lovely, and a colour that would suit everyone!

  • Everything about this is gorgeous – the bullet itself and the packaging. I haven’t tried Chanel beauty before but I really wish to! You can’t ever own too many lipsticks, and it’s alright to buy lots because none of your brown-nudes will ever look the same! xx
