An Ode to: Le Volume de Chanel Mascara

Chanel Le VolumeUsually I’m a drugstore mascara kinda girl, there’s not much to do about it. Mascara is the beauty product that I run out of the most, and I’d rather spend $6 a tube on it. Sometimes though you encounter a mascara so good it’s price is no longer an issue. That mascara for me is the Le Volume de Chanel Mascara.

There’s plenty of things mascara can do be it deep and dark, lengthening and separating or a curl and volume, one exists for everyone. My main “concern” is volume or curl, a bit of length is always nice but I truly want something that’ll plump uפ my lashes. A bit of oomph is never a bad thing in my opinion. This one delivers a deep black colour, a tiny bit of length and so much volume! Lives up to the name Le Volume for sure. Simply watch my lashes go from fine, not very curled lashes to bumpf.

It’s got a pretty interesting brush, it’s not curved like other’s I’ve loved in the past –  but it is plastic, stubby and has a slightly round taper. It’s quite similar to my first Chanel mascara “Inimitable” with it’s wand, this stuff truly does get all the lashes coated in one fell swoop. The formula is wetter than I like, but this is easily solved by a week or two of use. It’s just a wonderful mascara that does exactly what I want for it. It does have a downside though…Chanel Le Volume BrushIt’s not a waterproof formula so creamy, dewy, non-setting base lovers beware. I’m prone to rubbing my eyes when I spend a long time on the computer, and this mascara coupled with my dewy base did not survive. Luckily this happened near the end of the day whilst I was at home, so my new panda look was not a major thing at all. I don’t find that it flakes or smudges unless I’m the culprit an th best thing? It removes easily with my oil cleanser so there’s no tugging or need for a special eye makeup remover.

On me: Le Volume de Chanel Mascara, Tom Ford Lip Colour in Violette Fatale, Holika Holika Face2Change BB Cushion in 21, YSL Le Touche Eclat in 2, Josie Maran Cheek Gelee in Poppy Paradise, Essence Make Me Brow in Brown

It’s a little pricey at $32 a tubes but I think of it as a bit of a treat, and it’s a luxury product that I truly do use everyday (Beauty Logic at it’s best!). As much as I love it, I won’t be abandoning my Maybelline mascaras for this regularly but rather I’ll use this tube up and then buy anther when the mood strikes (or I pass a duty-free).

If you’ve tried the Le Volume de Chanel Mascara. what did you think of it? Or is there a luxury mascara you think is worth the splurge?

  • I haven’t tried a Chanel mascara but it’s on my list 🙂 High end mascara that I think it’s worth it is the YSL Babydoll Mascara. It’s one of my favorite mascaras because it gives me huge voluminous lashes.

    • Oh! I haven’t given that one a go yet – I’ll be sure to check it out 🙂 Thanks for the recommendation.
