When H&M (re)launched their beauty line the excitement was real. The selection is vast, almost overwhelming, filled with powders to pencils to lipsticks. There’s quite a bit to choose from. I made sure to pick up a few pieces when I could and bottom line: I love the cream products. Specifically, the cream eyeshadows and the blush which blew me away. The blush has a formula that is super easy to work with, and pigmentation levels are high. This means you only need a little bit to dab on for a fully flushed cheek. I’ve got two shades the first was Desert Pink which is Tarte’s Exposed in cream form perfected. Possessing just enough color for a flush but neutral enough the it also sculpts the face this is an everyday go to. I like to swirl my ring finger in the pan and dab onto the cheek, then blend out using my middle and pointer fingers.
Repeat if needed, but that rarely happens.
The second shade I’ve got, Hot Pink, is far more cool weather appropriate and is a bit of a shocker in the pan. It’s exactly what the name suggests, a bright almost neon shade that pulls a smidge purpley, a fuchsia. Even less product is needed with this one, on my light skin tone it looks as if I’ve been out in the cold wind.
The cream eyeshadows are also a star in the line. They remind me a little bit of the Tom Ford cream shadows, if a little bit less mousse-y and more creamy. They are super easy to work with and blend out nicely, the lighter shades need only a finger while the darker ones can be sheered out or built up for extra intensity. I’ve got Champers which is a shimmery champagne shade very easy to throw on for something on the lid.
Gentlewoman is the most intense of the bunch. The shade is a plummy burgundy with gold reflects, this makes it great for a deep smokey eye that’s a little more interesting than the classic black or brown. I like to layer with my fingers and then build up with a pencil brush along the lashes for that definition.
Last of all is my favorite – Dauphine Truffle! A boring looking mid toned brown taupe that does all the great things a shadow should, giving depth and color to the lid without looking over the top. It’s the perfect everyday shade if you’re feeling a little grungy, and it makes my eyes pop. I’ll be sharing my everyday autumn office makeup soon and its essential to that look.
So those are my thoughts on the H&M Beauty cream blush and eyeshadows – I can’t wait to try out more from the line!
