Ahhh Ouai, the brainchild of Jen Atkins is a product line with so much buzz its hard to ignore. When I discovered that it was stocked at CultBeauty, my favorite enablers, I simply had to try some out. The obvious choice for my tousled hair loving self was the Ouai Wave Spray which promises all the cool without all the salt other sprays are laden with. For more just keep on reading.
I’ll start off with saying that I love this. But I also hate it. I hate the smell that is, it’s reminiscent of Chanel 5 which I hate. Other than the scent which can be ignored for the amazing performance of this spray. You can use it on wet or dry strands for enhancing waves, adding texture and separation or volume.
If I’m rocking my natural texture I just spritz it into my hair before letting it air dry and it oomphs up the waves and curls while giving them some definition. Or I spray it into second day styled hair for the bed-head beach thing. However I like it best as a blow dry base.
When I blow dry my hair I like volume and this delivers. On towel dried hair I spray a generous amount from root to mid lengths then I blow dry it all with my head upside down. Once it’s all dry there’re two times the volume in my hair. I then let it be or style it with some heat, add another spritz at the tips and I’m all set.
If it came in a different scent my life would be complete but as I said this can be overlooked as the smell luckily doesn’t linger in my hair. This spray preforms far better than all the other’s I’ve tried be they high end or low and it’s taken me over 3 months to get through half the bottle with almost daily use. If you’re on the market for a new wave spray then the Ouai Wave Spray is for you.
