Spring ultimately means blush. There’s something about the fresh air, warmer weather that leaves you reaching for blush. We’re all looking to be a little fresh faced and flushed right now, no? In the case that you are – here are my favorite blushes of the moment all guaranteed to leave you with suitably pink cheeks.
I’ll start it off with the creams, since these products work amazingly well for anyone with skin’s that having a minor spring-freakout. We’ve all been there, dry patches and strange texture come out as the seasons change. Slather on your favorite moisturizers and weather the storm – and use some pigment to distract the world! Creams often sink in better, and leave a more natural finish on the skin. Best of all they don’t knock back that natural dew you’ve worked so hard to achieve.
I’ve been in love with H&M’s cream blush formula for a while now, with Desert Rose being a solid go to but lately I’ve been reaching for Hot Pink. It’s exactly what you’d expect an ultra bright, pigment packed fuchsia pink that emulates that happy flush I get from a little too much laughter and wine. On me this formula tends to last quite well, without any strange patchy fading.
Glossier’s recent release of the Cloud Paints was painfully obvious for spring, with the cute packaging and pretty shades it was hard to resist. I’ve been reaching for Puff, a light cool toned pink that really livens up my face. The formula is a wonderful, pigmented gel which you only need a little of for the entire face. Best of ll I find that it layers very well over a variety of bases, but also preforms the same on bare skin. It’s a little shocking at first – woah! pigment! – but with a little finger blending action it becomes a natural flush.
For powders I’m still rocking the same old loves. I adore the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush formula in general, but without a doubt Diffused Heat is my all time favorite. With it’s swirls of poppy pink pigment in the amazing yellow toned powder it’s such a great shade. This blush is sheer, but can be layered to a very bright tone. Because it’s a bit more on the red side of the pink spectrum on me with a bit of bronzer it replicates that fresh from the sun flush. Last of all, there’s a rather janky looking Chanel. The Rose Petale n.99 Jous Contraste Blush from Chanel is one of the sheerest blushes I own, so it’s amazing from those minimal makeup days. Due to it’s super sheer formula it lets the skin shine through but leaves a fine sheen as well. It’s not the best blush out there, but between the shade, the sheen and the packaging it’s impossible not reach for it.
